Francis Cooke and his son John transferred to the Mayflower from the Speedwell, which was leaking too badly to make the transatlantic voyage. His wife and three more children arrived in Plymouth one year later on the Anne. Francis signed the Mayflower Compact and played an active role in the colony's affairs.
